Discovery + briefing

We run the discovery call with the SMB. You get a written brief: scope, constraints, integrations, deliverables, deadline, budget. No "what is the customer actually asking for" anxiety.

Pricing + contract

We price the project (or co-price with you), handle the SoW, get the SMB to sign, and hold the funds in escrow. You don't negotiate, you don't write SoWs, you don't chase signatures.

Payment + dunning

When the SMB signs off, you're paid out the next business day via Stripe Connect / direct deposit. We handle the dunning if they're late. You get paid even if we have to chase.

Scope creep protection

If the SMB asks for more than what's in the brief, that's a change order through us — re-priced and re-briefed. You don't argue with the customer.

Community + cross-referrals

Verified Builders get into the community. Share what you're building, get help, refer work to other Builders for a finder's fee. Compounds.

SMB approves the deliverable in their portal. Funds release. You get 85% via Stripe Connect (or 90% if you're a founding-member Builder for the first 4 projects). We keep the 15% / 10% margin.

Builder FAQ

Do I have to be in Alberta?

Strongly preferred. The work is overwhelmingly AB SMB workflow automation, and AB-resident Builders make tax/payment routing easier. Canadian Builders outside AB will be considered case-by-case if they have AB SMB experience.

Can I bring my own clients into the marketplace?

Yes — and we encourage it. If you have an AB SMB you've worked with before and want BITRAGE to handle the bridge for future projects, we route them through and you still get 85% with founding-member rates available on those too.

What if I want to work directly with the SMB after a project?

The relationship is the SMB's. After a project ships, the SMB can hire you direct for follow-on work. We don't put non-competes on Builders. We rely on the marketplace giving you better deal flow than direct sales would.

Do I have to take every brief that matches my skills?

No. Briefs are first-Builder-to-claim. You see all briefs that match your declared skills; you claim what you want; the rest go to other Builders or back to BITRAGE for direct sub-contract.

What if the SMB and I disagree on whether the work is done?

BITRAGE arbitrates. We wrote the brief, we hold the escrow, we make the call. We're aligned with you to ship — we don't get paid the 15% if the project doesn't close.

How are payouts taxed?

You're a contractor, not an employee. We pay you via Stripe Connect to your business account. T4A or T5018 issued at year-end if you cross the threshold ($500 + for T4A, any amount for T5018 if you're in trades). Talk to your accountant.

Can I use BITRAGE agents in projects I ship for clients?

Yes. Verified Builders get access to the BITRAGE agent library — receptionist, scheduler, lead-qualifier, etc. You can wire them into your projects, modify them, or build entirely new agents. The Builder community shares improvements back.

How big can projects get?

So far the largest pipeline is multi-location SMB ($1.5K-1.9K/mo SaaS tier with $15-25K initial setup). If you can ship at that scale, the work is there.

What happens if BITRAGE shuts down?

The SMB-Builder relationship and any in-flight escrow gets handed off cleanly. We're not holding anything hostage. The brief, the integration credentials, the deliverable — all yours and the SMB's.
